- Structure
- Synaptotagmine-3 is a 590 amino acid protein with a molecular mass of ~ 63 kD.
- Distribution
-
Tissue Distribution: Central Nervous System
Cellular Distribution: Endosome, plasma membrane, synaptic vesicles, and cytosol.
- Function
- SYT3 functions as a Ca2+ sensor at the presynaptic terminals and plays a role in Ca2+-dependent exocytosis of secretory vesicles.
- Interaction
- SYT3 forms homodimers and heterodimers with SYT6, SYT9 and SYT10. It binds to SNARE-complex component syntaxin-1.
