Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested by Western blotting. For Western blotting, suggested working dilution(s): Use 4 ?g per 1 ml antibody dilution buffer for each mini-gel. It is recommended that the reagent be titrated for optimal performance for each application.

- Structure
- Belongs to the protease inhibitor I35 (TIMP) family. Contains 1 NTR domain, predicted molecular weight 23 kD.
- Distribution

Extracellular, expressed in a number of connective tissues, plasma and amniotic fluid.
- Function
- TIMP-1 forms complexes with matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and inhibits the proteolytic activity of these enzymes. High levels of TIMP-1 protein has been found in several types of cancers (eg. breast cancer) where the increase has been associated with a poor patient prognosis.
