- Recommended Usage
Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested by Western blotting. For Western blotting, the suggested use of this reagent is 0.5 - 5.0 ?g per ml.?For immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue, a concentration range of 5.0 - 10 ?g/ml is suggested. It is recommended that the reagent be titrated for optimal performance for each application.

- Structure
- MAG is a 626 amino acid protein with a molecular mass of 70 kD.
- Distribution
-
Tissue distribution: Central and peripheral nervous system, in periaxonal myelin and at Schmidt-Lanterman incisures.
Cellular distribution: Plasma membrane
- Function
- MAG is involved in the process of axon myelination and maintenance of myelin sheath along axons. MAG also functions as a receptor that promotes differentiation, maintenance and survival of oligodendrocytes. Aberrant immunoreactivity to MAG has been suggested to play a role in the pathogenesis of multiple sclerosis.
- Interaction
- MAG binds to neuronal sialic acid-containing gangliosides and to glycoproteins RTN4R and RTN4RL2.
